History
The Humane Society of North Iowa was founded in 1959 by Alice Ann Blackmore and was located on her farm in Mason City, IA. Alice Anne cared for hundreds of animals on this farm and created the beginning foundations of an animal rescue organization in North Iowa.

Our organization was founded almost 60 years ago (1959) with the mission to provide temporary shelter, food, medical attention, and comfort to displaced and neglected companion animals and educate the public about the humane care of animals with a goal of reducing overpopulation.
