The Corn Belt Power Cooperative, headquartered in Humboldt, Iowa, is a generation and transmission electric cooperative owned by its member systems. This cooperative provides electricity to more than 10 member distribution electric cooperatives and one municipal electric cooperative. These cooperatives serve farm members, rural residences, small towns and commercial and industrial members in 28 counties in northern Iowa. The Corn Belt Power Cooperative works to improve the quality of life for its members and their communities. Corn Belt actively promotes economic development efforts, environmental programs and energy efficiency through its many programs. Corn Belt Power owns and operates more than 1,650 miles of high voltage transmission line and owns and services 135 distribution substations and 30 switching stations. More than 30 microwave towers provide instant communication to operate radio-controlled switches. Its System Control Center is staffed 24 hours a day to monitor generation and transmission.
