Clarence Map
Clarence is a city in Cedar County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,008 at the 2000 census.
The community was originally called "Onion Grove" because of the widespread growth of wild onions in the area. The village was moved in order to be close to a railroad line and the name was changed to "Clarence" on the suggestion of Clarence, New York native L.B.Gere.
Clarence is located at 41°53?16?N 91°3?33?W / 41.88778°N 91.05917°W / 41.88778; -91.05917 (41.887827, -91.059171) along U.S. Route 30 and the historic Lincoln Highway.
