American Home Finding Association, founded in 1899, is a nonprofit agency providing adoption and foster care for children, family counseling, maternal child health program, emergency shelter for adolescents, mediation services and foster grandparent program. It is a licensed adoption agency finding adoptive homes for both infants and children with special needs and offers private counseling for individuals and families. The agency also provides adoptive parent home studies and updates and post-placement supervision. Its WIC program is a nutrition program for pregnant and postpartum women, infants and children below 5-years old and provides supplemental food through a voucher system, nutritional education and referral for appropriate health care. The agency operates an emergency shelter care facility for children and adolescents to improve the physical and emotional health by providing primary and preventative health services. It is located in Ottumwa, Iowa.
