CIRAS, also known as the Center for Industrial Research and Service, provides education, research and technical assistance to various industries in Iowa through partnerships with the state s universities, community colleges and government agencies. The organization helps businesses and communities develop, market and use agricultural crops for the production of bio-based products and energy. It also offers information on design standards for industrial cranes and monorail systems. Additionally, CIRAS provides assistance with feasibility studies, financial management, risk simulation and strategic planning. It conducts surveys for utilities, professional organizations, and state and federal agencies to determine current industry conditions and trends. Operational since 1963, CIRAS is the industrial extension arm of Iowa State University, which is one of the leading land grant institutions in the United States. CIRAS is located in Ames, Iowa.
