Body Wisdom Massage Therapy School is a recognized massage therapy education provider. Its core curriculum is designed to give basic hands-on training for therapeutic and Swedish massage that meets the requirements of the state of Iowa and the National Certification Exam. The school teaches the basic Swedish massage techniques of pettrisage, effleurage, vibration, jostling, tapotement, plus long flowing Esalen strokes, facilitated stretching, trigger point therapy, myofascial technique, and joint articulation. It also provides classes in body mechanics, introduction to deep tissue, basic assessment skills, client treatment plans, draping, side-lying massage, professional ethics and boundaries, and the fundamental theories and techniques of massage and bodywork. Body Wisdom School focuses on both somatic therapies and massage therapy certification. Its career counseling program is available to all full-time students throughout and after their training period. The school is located in Urbandale, Iowa.
