Located in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Area Education Agency 267 is one of more than 10 Area Education Agencies founded in 1974 by the Iowa legislature to guarantee equal educational opportunities to all children and youth up to 21 years. It serves more than 65,000 students and over 60 public and nearly 20 nonpublic school districts in Iowa. The agency supports various schools by providing services in areas, such as educational services, information and technology and special education. It serves more than 5,000 educators and offers various services, including special education and technology, media instructional and curriculum support. The agency has main offices in Marshalltown and Clear Lake in Iowa and nine special education sector offices. Area Education Agencies are funded by federal- and state-aid payments, legislatively controlled property taxes, tuition fees, and federal state and private grants.
