The Center, formerly known as the Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees (MVRCR), has been assisting individuals from over 35 countries in resettling in Utica, NY for over 200 years. With a rich history of welcoming immigrants and refugees, The Center has played a vital role in stabilizing the population and economy of the region.
Established in 1979 in response to the war in Vietnam, The Center has since grown and prospered, assisting individuals from Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Poland, the former Soviet Union, Bosnia, Burma, Iraq, Nepal, Somalia, Sudan, and more. Offering a range of services including interpretation, translation, cultural competency, and employment assistance, The Center is dedicated to helping refugees, immigrants, and those with limited English language proficiency integrate into the community and achieve independence.
