Zain Z. Rahman, M.D., is a nonsurgical orthopedist with Norton Orthopedic Institute, with fellowship training in sports medicine orthopedics. He earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois Chicago. Dr. Rahman completed a sports medicine fellowship at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, where he served as the team physician for Tennessee State University and Fisk University. During his training, he worked with sports medicine physicians for the NFL’s Tennessee Titans as well as Vanderbilt University, and he served as team physician for multiple high schools in the Nashville area. Dr. Rahman is currently team physician for Indiana University Southeast in New Albany and for athletic teams at Floyd Central High School in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, and at New Albany High School. Dr. Rahman has expertise in nonsurgical sports medicine, which includes the evaluation and management of patients who want to stay healthy and active. He has experience in treating patients of all ages and is familiar with care of athletes in a variety of sports disciplines, including athletes training for marathons, triathlons, boxing and mixed martial arts. Nonsurgical interventions Dr. Rahman provides include ultrasound-guided injection, joint injections and aspirations, and viscosupplementation. Patients with trigger finger or orthopedic issues of the elbow, wrist/hand, shoulder, knee and hip also can benefit from these nonsurgical treatments. Dr. Rahman is dedicated to personalized, compassionate care for his patients. In his personal time, Dr. Rahman enjoys playing basketball, tennis or any sport under the sun. He is a Louisville native and enjoys spending time with his family and friends in the area.
