The United States Attorney s Office of the Southern District of Indiana is the chief federal law enforcement entity in the district. It is comprised of civil, criminal and administrative sections. The U.S. Attorney enforces federal criminal laws in the Southern District of Indiana in U.S. courts, represents agencies of the U.S. in civil cases, as well as argues on behalf of the U.S. to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. The Southern District of Indiana consists of the southern 60 counties of the state. It is divided into four divisions, including Indianapolis, Terre Haute, Evansville and New Albany. Cases are filed in the division having venue of the action.
