HistoryThe Pruzin Community Center was donated to the Merrillville Parks and Recreation Department in 1972 for a weekend Senior Center. IN 2015 all new staff was brought in and it has developed into a Recreation Center during the week for all ages: Yoga, Salsa Lessons, Ballroom Dance, Phitt Ball, and Useful Spanish during the day. Monthly Senior Luncheons with guest Speakers on the 2nd Friday of each month. Youth and Adult Activities in the evening like Karate, Dance Fitness Fun, Self Defense, Useful Spanish, Ballroom & Salsa Dancing. We also offer Facility Rentals on the weekends. We hold a Summer Concert in the Park on the last Friday in July. Stop in and pick up the flyers for all the information about our classes and other program offerings.SpecialtiesOur Recreation Center offers a variety of exercise programs, and dance classes, both daytime and evenings. We have Senior Lunches with speakers on the 2nd Friday of each month with games following. Weekends we rent our facility for Open Houses, Baby Showers and more. Dates go fast.
