The Red Skelton Museum of American Comedy opened on July 18, 2013, the 100th anniversary of Red's birth. It is located in his hometown of Vincennes, Indiana, just across the street from his birthplace. The museum is on the campus of Vincennes University and is adjacent to the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center. The mission of the museum is to continue Red Skelton's legacy of laughter through inspiration and education. The 3500 square foot museum is an interactive space featuring permanent exhibits highlighting his entertainment career, personal life and creative skills. Several temporary exhibits open each year to highlight other areas of Red's life.
