Established in 1965, the South Greenville Fire District serves in an area of more than 134 square miles and over 25,000 citizens in Southern Greenville County, S.C. It operates a communication and emergency dispatch system that coordinates responses to various calls for service. The district is comprised of a fire chief, administrative specialist, fire marshal and mechanic, various battalion chiefs, captains and lieutenants and nearly 30 fire suppression personnel. The South Greenville Fire District offers fire prevention, suppression, rescue and hazardous material response services. It operates more than five fire stations and offers information regarding smoke detectors and cooking, cigarette, and holiday fire and appliance safety. The district also issues open burning permits.
