About Dr. Kunar It was because of a family member that Nicole L. Kunar, DO, decided on a career in medicine when she was about 10 years old. “I was inspired by my aunt who was in residency at the time,” she says. The more she learned, the more interested Dr. Kunar became. “I was amazed by the human body and its ability to heal itself.” After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, she went on to earn her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Nova Southeastern University, College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Davie, FL. Dr. Kunar’s family medicine residency was completed in Olympia Fields, IL, at Franciscan Health. In her role, she helps people become the healthiest versions of themselves. I love getting to know my patients. Family medicine allows you to do that,” she says. In particular, Dr. Kunar is interested in lifestyle and preventative medicine, women’s health and nutrition. “I believe in treating the whole person, which includes mind, body and spirit.” As she looks to treat her patients in this way, Dr. Kunar’s hope is that they learn good habits from her. “To maintain a healthy life takes effort and a team approach from patients and their physicians.”
