Dr. Abu-Salih is the medical director of Community’s pediatric gastroenterology program. He received his medical degree from Jordan University of Science and Technology. He returned to the U.S. to complete his residency in pediatrics at the University of Iowa. He practiced general pediatrics for 12 years in Wisconsin before completing fellowship training in pediatric gastroenterology at the University of Michigan in 2011. Dr. Abu-Salih firmly believes in educating patients about their conditions and treatment options. He puts emphasis on giving patients and their families enough time to express their concerns and maintain continuity of care and follow-up as needed. This supports his philosophy of building strong relationships with patients and their families, while partnering with all providers involved in their care. Dr. Abu-Salih treats pediatric patients from infancy through 18 years of age. His areas of special interest are functional abdominal pain, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic constipation, eosinophilic esophagitis and GERD. Dr. Abu-Salih is married and has four children, two boys and two girls. He enjoys traveling, soccer and stamp-collecting.
