Jon Cardinal, MD, received a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry from Duquesne University. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University. He completed a general surgery internship/residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and also completed a research fellowship. He previously served as an associate professor of surgery, division of surgical oncology, at West Virginia University. He also previously served as program director, WVU general surgical residency. He has a special interest in metastatic colon cancer to the liver, liver tumors, pancreas tumors, pancreas cysts, bile duct strictures and abdominal and retroperitoneal masses, as well as gallbladder cancer, hepatocellular cancer, periampullary cancer, and duodenal cancer. Dr. Cardinal also offers robotic surgery, a less invasive approach, to patients when appropriate. In his spare time, he enjoys vacationing at the Outer Banks, NC, visiting extended family and friends in Pittsburg, and spending time with his wife and three children.
