About Dr. Eifler When Dr. Eifler was 16 years old, he had a foot injury. The podiatrist who cared for him seemed to have a solid work-life balance and that appealed to Dr. Eifler. “I was able to shadow him for the summer and decided this career path was for me.” He enjoys the mixture of clinical medicine and surgery that allows for a good variation in his workday. Dr. Eifler studied at the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at the Rosalind Franklin University of Science and Medicine (RFUMS), North Chicago, IL, and did his podiatry residency at the John H. Stroger Jr. of Cook County Hospital, in Chicago. His residency included foot and ankle reconstructive surgery with a high emphasis on clinical care and wound care training. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons in Foot and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery. Prior to joining Beacon, he was the owner of Elkhart Podiatry Clinic, Elkhart, IN. He is a member of the Indiana Podiatric Medical Association and the American Podiatric Medical Association. When he treats a patient, he makes them a partner in their own care. “Communication is key and our relationship needs to be trustworthy,” he says. “The ability to listen, understand, and put a treatment plan that best fits the patient’s life is the most important aspect of the encounter.” Communication coupled with listening provide Dr. Eifler’s patients with the best chance for a positive outcome. “When a patient visits my clinic, they are willing to express fine details that I fully need to understand,” he says. To patients and prospective patients he would say this: “I want you to feel as if I am a friend that has given positive lifelong advice for not only the past 20 years of life but, when it has mattered in your life the most.” In his own words… Who is or was the most influential people/role models in your life? My father has been the most influential person in my life. What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? I was a salt delivery specialist for a local company. It was very tough work. The bags were extremely heavy. What is your favorite food? Movie? My favorite food: Tacos. Movie: Office Space. What was your best/worst subjects in school growing up? Best subject: Science. Worst subject: English. If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why? Michael Jordan. Reason being is that he did so many things with so many people watching. He also was willing to fail. When he did, he always found a way to get back up and still be the best. In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? I love golf. If I could play every day and be good at it, I would play professionally. What is something most people don’t know about you? When I am by myself, I am an introverted person. In a room full of people, I tend to talk and find my way into most conversations, but when alone and away from other people I love to decompress.
