Lucas Oil Stadium is a stadium located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Lucas Oil Stadium currently houses the NFL team the Indianapolis Colts. The stadium opened under its current name on August 16, 2008 with the construction taking just under three years at a cost of just over $720 million, $768 in present day dollars. In 2006 Lucas Oil signed a 20-year $121 million naming rights deal. The stadium was built to replace the aging RCA Dome.
The Indianapolis Colts are two time Super Bowl Champions and are members of the South Division of the American Football Conference within the NFL. They are known by their team colors consisting of blue and white. The current owner of the Indianapolis Colts is Jim Irsay.
The stadium currently holds 62,421 fans. There are 137 luxury suites and thousands of seats at the club level. Currently, it was the 30th largest stadium in the NFL. Lucas Oil Stadium is also a great venue for concerts and has hosted such musicians as Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band.
Lucas Oil Stadium was host to the Super Bowl in 2012 and is annually host to the IHSAA, ISSMA, Bands of America and the Circle City Classic. A notable feature is the retractable roof, which can close or open in under nine minutes.
The majority of tickets for Colts’ games are sold out and there is an extensive waitlist for season tickets. However, fans can possibly find available tickets for individual games at ticket exchanges.
