Huntington County Sheriff's Department provides a variety of law enforcement services to the Huntington County area in Indiana. The department consists of nearly 15 full time officers and approximately 20 reserve officers under the charge of the sheriff. Huntington County Sheriff's Department is supplemented by the Huntington County Police Rescue Squad. The Police Rescue Squad provides specially trained personnel to free trapped victims from automobile crashes, as well as industrial, agricultural and construction accidents. Huntington County Sheriff's Department operates the county jail and courthouse, which was originally built in 1834 and most recently rebuilt in 1982. Huntington County Sheriff's Department maintains its headquarters in Huntington, Ind.
