Hoosier Energy generates and transmits electricity to more than 15 southern Indiana rural electric distribution cooperatives. With headquarters and system control facilities in Bloomington, Ind., Hoosier Energy serves the power supply needs of nearly 700,000 residents, businesses, industries and farms in a service area covering more than 15,000 square miles. High-voltage electric power is delivered over a system of 1,400 miles of transmission lines, 14 primary substation facilities and more than 200 distribution substations and delivery points. Interconnections link Hoosier Energy with other major utilities in Indiana and neighboring states. Hoosier was incorporated in 1949 and is a Touchstone Energy cooperative.
