In 1885 George Hubbard opened the Martinsville Building Loan Fund & Savings Association. In 1890, the business was reorganized as the Home Building Association. In the years that followed, it helped everyday people realize a goal of owning their own homes. By 1990, reflecting changes in the financial services world, the company became known as HomeBank.
