History
Highland Parks & Recreation Department was established in 1947 and reorganized in 1966 to conform to 1965 Indiana Parks & Recreation law which governs operation. The department has a five member board, four of which are appointed by Town Council and one appointed by the School Board. There is also a non-voting town council liaison to the board. The department manages 26 parks and open space consisting of 230 acres and over 80 different annual recreational programs. The four court fieldhouse was built in 1998. The new construction renovation of the rest of the Lincoln Community Center was completed in 2012.
