History
Dyes is the oldest business in downtown Wabash. Named after the original owner Clarence and Jenny Dye. First opened as a grocery store and then later a grocery store and bar. Johnny Cain was the next owner, keeping the original name Dyes. The grocery store closed but the bar stayed opened. When Johnny decided to sell the bar a frequent customer decided to buy. Bob Simpson then bought and remodeled the place. Next, Ronnie and Betty Watkins owned Dyes. When they bought the place they wanted to serve breakfast lunch and dinner. So they remodeled the bar again and put in a kitchen. Having Betty make breakfast was a long time tradition for many. When they decided to sell the bar. They sold to one of their friends who had worked with them at the bar for many years. Joe Goshert is now the owner of Dyes. He is adding to the place as well. A beer garden is now open for the customers to enjoy sitting outside.
