Dr. Wheeler grew up in the small town of Eminence, Indiana. She then attended ISU in Terre Haute, IN as part of the Rural Health Program obtaining a BA in English and MS in Life Sciences. She received her medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA. Dr. Wheeler graduated from Community East Family Medicine Residency in 2014 where she was chief resident then continued there as an Assistant Director. She joined CSOFM as Associate Director of Curriculum in 2020. She completed a faculty development fellowship at the University of North Carolina in 2017. Dr. Wheeler’s clinical interests include inpatient, outpatient, community education, geriatrics, pediatrics, prenatal care, newborn care, lactation, LARC and group patient visits, all of which allows her to get deeply involved in her patient’s care and education. Dr. Wheeler spends time outside of work with her husband, two children, cats, and dog. Her current hobbies include gardening, watching HGTV, reading as much fiction as possible, and baking goodies.
