History
Ed Bertholet graduated from Valparaiso University in 1958 with a B.A. Degree in Business and Economics. He is a Korean War Veteran who served in the Marine Corps. After graduation, Ed started a home insurance business in Valparaiso, Indiana. A local police officer, and friend, showed Ed how to use his insurance license, by using a surety policy bond at the jail, which allowed the release of an inmate from jail. Surety Bonds, then, became the main focus of Ed Bertholet & Associates, INC. Ed is now retired and lives in Florida. His daughter and predecessor, Kelly Bertholet, persident, keeps abreast of legislative matters and any pending laws or bills concerning the bail industry. She is responsible for the computerization and expansion of the business. Kelly served a two year term as President of the Indiana Surety Bail Agents Association and stays active on committee groups with PBUS. She has been with the firm for over 25 years.
