The Bedford Parks Department, located in Bedford, Ind., maintains and operates the city s parks and sponsors recreational activities for residents of all ages. The Bedford city parks consist of Murray Forrest Park, Wilson Park, Thornton Memorial Park, Otis Park, Dickman Park and Edgewood Park. Programs offered by these parks include summer and fall softball leagues, yoga classes, playground equipment for children, dog obedience courses, 18-hole golf course, shelter houses on rent, volley ball, skate park, multi-purpose field for use as a soccer complex and tennis courts and basketball courts. The Thornton Memorial Park opens its John Lowery Municipal Pool in summers and offers swimming lessons, diving and scuba lessons for all ages. Additionally, it offers aquacize classes and Jo-Do.
