WYZZ-TV is the Fox 43 News television stations serving Bloomington, Peoria and central Illinois. Owned by Nexstar Broadcasting Group, the company entered into an outsourcing agreement with a subsidiary Sinclair Broadcast Group on December 2001. It realized operating expense reductions by consolidating the physical operations of WYZZ into the WMBD facility in Peoria. In addition, WMBD and WYZZ are the only stations in the area with significant Bloomington-based news and sales operations. In April 2002, the company launched FOX 43 News on WYZZ, using the existing resources of the WMBD news department, becoming the market's only prime time local news broadcast. WYZZ is broadcasting both a digital and analog signal. The station's syndicated programming includes King of the Hill, Scrubs, The Simpsons, Everybody Loves Raymond, Two and a Half Men, TMZ, 24 and Frasier. Peoria-Bloomington, Ill., is the 117th largest DMA in the United States, with a population of approximately 629,884 and 246,281 television households. Nexstar Broadcasting Group, headquartered in Irving, Texas, is a Top 20 television broadcasting company focused exclusively on the acquisition, development and operation of television stations in medium-sized markets in the United States, primarily markets that rank from 50 to 150, as reported by A.C. Nielsen Company.
