Whiting Corporation manufactures custom-engineered overhead cranes and material handling equipment used for hoisting, moving and handling a wide variety of materials. Its products are used in nuclear and power utility plants, hot metal handling, industrial and warehouse, coil and scrap handling, mill service and automotive plants. Whiting products used in metallurgical industries include electric arc and channel-type induction furnaces, ladles and gearing, argon oxygen decarburization reactors and accessories, transfer cars, holding furnaces, charging equipment and accessories. Whiting Corporation is a founding member of the Crane Manufacturer's Association of America, a trade association of manufacturers of electric overhead traveling cranes. The company was founded in 1884 and became a subsidiary of G.K. Enterprises in 1983.
