History
WDLA PTO, formerly Washington Dual Language PTO which was established in 2013, but due to failure of previous administrations failure to complete required paperwork it was legally dissolved. In October of 2016 under the new leadership of Patricia Bass, WDLA PTO was born. With no money and a need to incorporate Rev. & Mrs. Bass donated the entire cost to incorporate WDLA PTO. In January of 2017 it became a recognized 501(c)3 organization. Under the leadership of Mrs. Bass, we were able to achieve some wonderful things for our participants and the community..
Specialties
It is the mission of WDLA PTO; To support bilingualism, bi-literacy, biculturalism to the students of Washington Dual Language Academy, those of District 89, and of the world. To support the education of low to moderate income students to learn multiple languages and cultures. Increase awareness of the need for bi and multi-lingual children throughout the world. Support the learning of students outside of the classroom, in an effort to compete on a national level. Increase the nutritional eating habits of children outside of the school. Decrease childhood obesity through eating, exercise and education. To increase language and learning through fun activities. Enhance learning through paid parent volunteers within each classroom in District 89. Instill etiquette, morals and values in children. Introduce cultural activities to children through field trips to Museums, Art exhibits, Zoos, Aquariums, Theatres and Sporting events.
