While the DuPage Library System (DLS) is NOT a public library – the work of the staff in this building is to facilitate all types of libraries (public, academic, special and school) with sharing materials. Illinois is currently divided into nine library systems. You can literally request an obscure book title at your local library, and the DLS staff will track it down for you, within the state or within the nation, and deliver it to your local library in one of its daily delivery trucks. The Library System also houses and maintains the computerized catalog that virtually connects the entire state together. Many other cost saving services are utilized by libraries through the coordination of DLS staff, including repairing book bindings; quantity discounts on supplies; negotiated discounts on books, audio books, DVD's; and print and computerized subscription services. DuPage Library System also provides talking books for blind and physically handicapped patrons.
