Vaughan & Bushnell Mfg. Co. was founded in Peoria, Ill., by Alexander Vaughan. It began as a plumbing business, which consisted of digging wells and piping water into the kitchens of the local citizenry in the company s beginning days. The company produces striking tools that has helped transform Vaughan from a small maker of hand tools to one of the world s largest manufacturer of striking tools. Some of the striking tools in the Vaughan product line include the claw hammer, soft face hammers, hatchets and axes, pry bars and hand saws. Headquartered in Hebron, Ill., the company is privately owned and employs nearly 40 people.
