The Universities Council on Water Resources (UCOWR) is a consortium of academic institutions and affiliates dedicated to water resources research, education, and outreach. Founded in 1964 as an expansion of the Universities Council on Hydrology, UCOWR values membership from a diverse range of institutions, including research universities, undergraduate institutions, tribal colleges, historically black colleges and universities, and Hispanic-serving institutions.
UCOWR collaborates with the National Institutes for Water Resources (NIWR) and the American Water Resources Association (AWRA) to host joint conferences, with the upcoming 2024 event marking the 60th anniversary celebration for all three organizations. Through inclusive membership, UCOWR aims to link water leaders of today and develop the water leaders of tomorrow, fostering a network of over 65 institutions nationwide engaged in advancing water research, education, and policy.
