True World Foods Chicago LLC started in 1975 in Brooklyn, N.Y., as New York Fish House, selling fish on the streets to retail customers passing by. Steadily, the company expanded to other cities in the United States and by 1995 had over 20 separate, independent locations. The fish house became True World Foods Chicago, which buys tuna from throughout the world and has several people in Chicago solely dedicated to sourcing and pricing the best grades. The company s sales force speaks Chinese, Korean and Japanese. Located in Elk Grove Village, Ill., it supplies first-generation ethnic restaurant owners throughout Chicago. True World Foods Chicago is headquartered in New Jersey and delivers sushi quality seafood to more than 2,000 restaurants in the United States.
