The Tree Fund, a research and education endowment fund, is the single largest source for non-governmental tree research and education in the world. The organization, founded in the 1970s, moved to Naperville in the 1990s. It provides grant and scholarship funding to advance the field of arboriculture and urban forestry to benefit communities, trees and the environment. The nonprofit holds several large fundraisers every year including the Tour de Trees, in which bikers pedal 500 miles and raise money for tree research.
