The Village of Homewood has a Board of Trustees that consists of six Trustees, a Village President and a Village Clerk, all of whom are elected to four-year terms. A Village Manager, appointed by the President and Board, executes the governing body's directives and provides background information and analyses for the President and Board to make its decisions. The Village Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Village.
The Village of Homewood is comprised of several departments. The Community Development Department administers the Village's planning, zoning, subdivision ordinances and is responsible for building inspections.
The Finance Department directs all financial operations of the Village, including payroll, budgeting, financial reporting, risk management, business and liquor licensing and processing freedom of information requests, among other things.
The Public Works Department is responsible for a variety of initiatives, including water distribution, maintenance of most public streets, snow removal from streets, maintenance of traffic signals, traffic control signs and street signs.
The Fire Department provides fire suppression, emergency medical, hazardous materials mitigation and rescue services to all locations in Homewood.
The Homewood Police Department is responsible for the enforcement of all state laws and most municipal laws in the Village.
