The Springfield Project is an innovation and coworking space located in the South Town neighborhood of Springfield's east side. It positively impacts and expands opportunities for small businesses and startups in its low-income community, aiming to grow the economic and social impact of Springfield's minority population by increasing their access to resources and training.
In addition to providing business services to minority-owned, women-owned, and veteran-owned businesses, as well as the recently incarcerated population, The Springfield Project sponsors a Summer Youth Initiative that offers local youth the opportunity to gain job skills and earn a paycheck during their time off from school. They also have a Micro Loan Program that provides funding to small businesses that do not qualify for traditional financing, along with business counseling and other related services.
