The Chicago Community Trust is a nonprofit grant making and giving service formed to help make the Chicago metropolitan area a great place to live, work and raise a family. The trust, which dates back to 1915, focuses its giving efforts in several core areas, which includes arts and culture, basic human needs, community development, education and health. Recent grant dollars have been used to provide low-income children with after-school activities, health services to people with AIDS, funding for a senior center in the north suburbs and support for an innovative new Chicago dance company. Area residents who want to give back come to the trust for assistance to identify and sharpen their philanthropic priorities and giving options. The trust s geographic focus includes Chicago, suburban Cook County and the Illinois counties of DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will.
