Summit Map
Summit is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 10,637 at the 2000 census. The village is best known as the setting to Ernest Hemingway's 1927 short story "The Killers".

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.3 square miles (5.9 km²), of which 2.1 square miles (5.5 km²) are land and 0.2 square mile (0.4 km²) (6.58%) is water. Most of "Summit" is actually in the floodplain of the Des Plaines River.
