Established in 1968, Illinois State Police Academy offers services and training to prepare new officers for a career in law enforcement. It also offers educational programs for Illinois State Police employees as well as offerings for other state, local and federal agencies. The academy is a division of the Illinois State Police, which is a law enforcement agency and offers a variety of services, such as criminal history information, firearm owners identification, statewide support, forensic resources, crime scene services, policy development and training. Illinois State Police Academy has more than 280 beds, a gymnasium with exercise equipment, video and computer accessibility and full-service cafeteria. It also provides distance learning and interactive communication courses. Illinois State Police Academy is located in Springfield, Ill.
