St. Raphael was founded in 1961 from two existing parishes and was built on land that was donated to the Diocese of Joliet. At the time the church and school were created, Naperville had a population of less than 17,000 people and only 400 families attended services at St. Raphael. Its membership now looms at around 4,000 families. The church's primary focus is to encourage its members to love, forgive and accept others as they are. The school educates students in kindergarten through eighth grades.
