Established in 1937, the Division of Specialized Care for Children provides care coordination for families and children with special health care needs. It serves more than 20,000 families in over 100 counties in Illinois. The division operates more than 10 regional offices and employs a network of professionals. The Division of Specialized Care for Children focuses in the areas of public service, education and research. It also provides diagnostic and treatment services through therapy, medication and specialized programs for children with chronic health impairments. The division works in collaboration with The Children's Habilitation Clinic, which offers diagnostic, rehabilitative and developmental management services for children up to the age of 21. The Division of Specialized Care for Children is administered by the University of Illinois at Chicago.
