Founded in 1967, the Spanish Center is a bilingual community center that provides education and social services to the city's Hispanic population. The center offers the English as a Second Language program. It conducts preschool classes and operates a day care center. The Spanish Center s citizenship services assist legal permanent residents to gain citizenship status with the U.S. immigration and naturalization services, including petitions, adjustments and visas. Its employment services include assistance with applications and resumes. The organization s immigration services include assistance with adjustments of status, affidavits of support, extensions of visa, citizenship applications, replacement of alien cards and translation of certificates. In addition, the Spanish Center provides assistance in translating marriage licenses and birth and death certificates from Spanish to English and English to Spanish. It is located in Joliet, Ill.
