A famous tavern with great food and loads of local beer, this cash-only establishment has been open for over 20 years. The building was built in 1896, and previously housed a drag bar, a brewery that got in trouble for running afoul of prohibition, a family-owned tavern that had a stickup and a gunfight, and more. The rich history feels alive today as you use "Chicago's oldest extant urinals." As a restaurant, the fare far surpasses "bar food," and the tater tots are the stuff of legends.
