The Skokie Eruv Committee is an organization dedicated to the administrative work that goes into maintaining and governing the Skokie eruv. An eruv is an actual, physical area where the rules prohibiting observant Jews from carrying things on the Sabbath are lifted. A good deal of Skokie is covered by the eruv, and many Jews see this as a major plus for the community.
Two dozen or so people are dedicated to the Skokie eruv, including a number of rabbis.
