North Lawndale College Preparatory Charter High School, founded in 1998, enrolls more than 650 students in grades 9 through 12. The school operates technology, media, visual and dramatic arts, and health and wellness departments. Its academic curriculum includes math, science, English, social studies and Spanish, as well as computer studies and foreign language classes. Its sports activities include volleyball, baseball, flag football, softball, cross-country, basketball, cheerleading, and track and field. The school operates several student organizations, including the National Honor Society, Future Educators of America and Student Political Action Committee, as well as a street hip-hop dance team and art, chess, drama and creative expression clubs. The school offers a college readiness course that provides students with early awareness of various postsecondary options and develops test-taking, writing and study skills. It also operates the Office of Student Life, which aligns and works with the school s mission to support the academic achievement of its students and creates intentional, personal and strategic plans to assist students in their personal growth. In addition, it offers a student development summer program that promotes access to higher education and fosters leadership and academic development.
