Jennifer Long-Leckrone, LCSW, is a mental health therapist on our Behavioral Health team. She currently sees patients at Springfield Clinic Main Campus East. Jennifer is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed School Social Worker and Certified Substitute Teacher. “I decided to pursue a counseling profession at the age of 19,” says Jennifer. “After serving for more than 25 years as a school social worker, I wanted to provide direct therapy to patients of all ages.” In her practice, she utilizes a multisensory approach with a focus on cognitive behavior therapy and mindfulness. When needed for children, she will also utilize play therapy. She sees a diverse range of patients including, but not limited to, LGBTQ+ patients. Jennifer earned her Master of Social Work degree (Mental Health Specialization) and post-graduate studies (School Social Work specialization) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her Bachelor of Arts in child, family and community services from the University of Illinois-Springfield.Prior to joining Springfield Clinic, Jennifer worked with Sangamon Area Special Education District for more than 25 years. Jennifer also worked at several mental health settings in the past. In her free time, Jennifer serves as a member of the Springfield Civic Garden Club, the Animal Protective League and makes wreaths for a medical fundraiser. She also loves to garden and her yard is a certified wildlife habitat. She won an award for gardening several years ago.
