Founded in 2000, the Peoria Academy is an independent, private and nonprofit academy that enrolls students in kindergarten through grade eight. The academy offers educational services to more than 350 students. It is governed by a board of trustees that includes a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. The academy provides before- and after-school programs. Its academic curriculum includes foreign language, music, English, science, history and fine arts. The Peoria Academy also offers scholarships to children of low-income families. It provides computer and physical education classes. Additionally, the academy serves a variety of food items, including grilled chicken, cheeseburger, yogurt, lasagna, garlic bread, sandwiches, baked beans, juices, pizzas, salads and mixed vegetables. The Peoria Academy is located in Peoria, Ill.
