Founded in 1920, the Palatine Public Library serves a population of more than 50,000, and is located in Palatine, Ill. It has more than 300,000 items in its prints collection and over 35,000 items in its audiovisual collection, including books, nonfiction, videocassettes, CDs, pamphlets, audiocassettes and magazines. The library s annual circulation exceeds 1.5 million items. It offers computer access to the public, meeting rooms, and youth and adult programming. Additionally, the library offers various services, such as library cards, checkout materials and participation in reading clubs for children and adults. Its information services department provides reference and nonfiction materials, such as magazines and newspapers for children and adults. Its school services include an assignment alert that provides project materials, such as books, encyclopedias, magazines, an online database, pamphlets and videos.
