The Rev. Shawana McGee will tell you that her ministry exists to enhance the life of children with special needs and those who are underprivileged; but Caring Places God's Way Ministry is so much more. Located less than a mile east of downtown La Grange, Shawana operates out of her home. What began at the Second Baptist Church in 1992 was incorporated by Shawana in 2007. Shawana is excited to say that her ministry now reaches out to more than kids, but to their families as well. It holds worship services Sundays at 3pm, and her home is one of many emergency safe havens for children from troubled families. The youth are heavily involved in the community, feeding the homeless on Christmas and taking part in programs like Praise Dance. The staff is comprised of volunteers.
