The Oak Forest Park District provides approximately 28,000 residents with access to more than 200 acres of park facilities, youth and adult programs -- and unlimited fun.
The Central Avenue park building houses the administrative body that manages the district's parks and programs. The facility, with an attached health and fitness center that Oak Forest residents can join, is located across the way from the Acorn Public Library. Programs available here include FunTime preschool classes, gymnastics and dance classes, yoga and open gym.
The park district also hosts special events, including teen dances, holiday-themed parties, family festivals, game days and camps. Use of park district facilities and resources is dependent upon the program and residency status.
The Board of Commissioners is led by President James Emmett and meets the second and fourth Thursdays of every month, at 7:30 pm in the boardroom at the main building. Visit the Oak Forest Park District website for more information.
